Andrea Does the VMA's

First of all, let me take this opportunity to apologize for not making my presence known more on this webpage. I haven't had much time at all lately, what with moving into a new place, going to school, and working. I hope to contribute more in the future. Anyway, on with the article

VMA night for me started out pretty typical. After winning the argument with my roommate Jason over which was more important, the VMAs or his pick, Cops and Robbersons (on Comedy Central), I laid on the couch, which is where I would remain for most of the night.

The first thing I noticed about the awards was that I actually enjoyed them way more than I have in previous years. They seemed less trendy, and more like an actual awards show. Or maybe it was the beer I was drinking. At any rate, this is the best VMAs I have seen in a long time.

The highlight of the evening for me was threefold. First, the fact that Moulin Rouge won 2 awards made me happy and I tipped my glass to them. The second was that hottie man Dale Earhardt, Jr was on there. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Third, was Britney Spears. Now, I know what you are saying..."But, Andrea, you're heavy metal, why Britney Spears." First of all, I thought her performance was mediocre at best. The only reason she makes my top 3 highlights is because deep down, I wanted her to get bitten by that giant snake. Here are some of my other favorite moments . . .

Couple of the Night : Kid Rock and Pamela Lee

Interview of the Night : Britney Spears and Mick Jagger (not since Courtney Love and Madonna have I seen anything that strained)

Hottie of the Night : Dale Jr.

The Rage Against the Machine Award : Will Ferrel, for climbing the stage props a la Tim Commerford (Rage's drummer, who did it last year)

Plug of the Night : Macy Gray's dress

Tearjerker of the Night : The remaining Ramones

Actor of the Night : Christopher Walken (he did his own dancing in the Fatboy Slim video, minus the backflips and stuff)

Tribute of the Night : Aaliyah tribute

Entrance of the Night : P. Diddy and his pimp ride, a big truck

and finally . . .

The "Well, Long Time No See, Stranger" Award - Michael Jackson

Everything about the night was really good, I was quite impressed with how MTV was able to make this a great award show. I was, for the most part, happy with the way things turned out awards-wise. I wish MR would have won more, and N'Sync would have won less, but MR and Fatboy Slim were the big winners of the night, and that makes me smile. See ya at the Movie Awards!

DIAMOND DOG ANDREA

Disclaimer : I apologize sincerely if my comments about Britney Spears or N'Sync offended anyone. I don't mean to attack the fans, I just don't like the "bands".
